Melting point 2852 ℃, boiling point 3600 ℃. Soluble in acid and ammonium salt, hardly soluble in water and ethanol. The specific surface area is 180 m2/g at calcination temperature of 400 ℃. The specific surface area is only 3 m2/g at 1300 ℃. It is deliquescent in the air. It is a gas-hardened cementitious material.
Product use
industry
light-burned magnesium is widely used in desulfurization in steel mills and power plants. It can be used to make magnesia bricks and to protect the furnace in steel mills.
